Emily's Bridal Shower

Reagan went with me to Emily's shower in Buena Vista on Saturday. Reagan was the perfect little lady. Everyone adored her and thought she was so well mannered!

Emily had 24 guests, some very yummy food and received alot of nice gifts. We played a couple of games, even a couple which I had never played before. I think everyone had a fun time.

And the Doctor says ...............

Chuck had his doctor appointment today and everything is good. His blood test results from two weeks ago was really good. The doctor did an EKG today and said it was good as well.

It seems that the problems he has been having are a result of his hernia. The hernia is what causes the spasms when eating certain foods. The doctor thinks that the hernia flared up as a result of the pizza that night. When the hernia spasms it chokes off the esophagus which causes the pain in his chest.

The iron that he has been taken is also causing some of the stomach problems so he is taken his off for now. He has him set up for a monthly blood test so he can see what happens without the iron and keep a watch.

I may not have explained everything here that well but the bottom line is that it wasn't a heart attack and that his blood is really good right now. Actually better than it has been in a long time. So with the monitoring of the blood on a monthly basis and taking the previcid for the hernia well see how he does.

Blogs.........

I love reading everyone's blogs and keeping up on what's happening but I never seen to find the time to blog myself.

We had a wonderful Easter (of course we missed Nick/Shay, Aundi/Wes and Sharon/Robby). We had 18 total and the kitchen was completly full when we sat down to eat. This year we were excited to have Emily and Chris with us which was a first. We had thought that maybe Daniel was bringing a girl friend but then we found out that she is just a friend and was out of town anyways. We experienced our "Turducken" which wasn't bad. It was alittle different but I think everyone enjoyed it. For those that aren't up-to-date, a Turducken is a turkey, chicken and duck all together. It was then stuffed with cajun sausage. Of couse everyone brought a dish to share and all the food was wonderful.

The past two weeks have been really busy at work. I have actually been at the office more in the past two weeks than I have in the last six months. But with this economy having a job is a GOOD thing!

Nothing exciting really going on for us. We decided that we would start back mowing our lawn this summer to cut expenses. Chuck has mowed three times now and had to fix a few things on the mower but overall its been okay. We borrowed Nick's push mower and I have been mowing the front lawn (hill) which with Nick's mowing hasn't been all that bad. I think we are going to probably buy the mower from him.

Last weekend, Bobbie and Corey invited us over for dinner and for some card games. Sharon and Robby were also invited and it was a great time. The weather was so nice that we were able to eat outside. Then we watched or I should say laughed at Reagan driving her Barbie jeep! She is so adorable but then we all know that! We never got around to playing cards but you'll need to read Bobbie's blog to hear about what happened. We are just glad that CJ is okay!

I'm excited for this weekend as it's Emily's bridal shower in BV on Sunday. Bobbie and Reagan and I meeting up with Sharon and all going together. That should be alot of fun.

Chuck goes for his doctor appointment tomorrow so I will let everyone know later what the doctor had to say.

If finances work out, we hope to open the pool soon. We need to get it open and check out the leak so everyone say a little prayer for us.

Well for now, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. The weather for the next few days is supposed to be beautiful. Enjoy!

GOOD FRIDAY

It's been a very busy week with work and I haven't been sleeping well. It seems I have a hard time sleeping at night anymore. I'm looking forward to a wonderful weekend though and it's starting off great.

Corey called this morning to ask if we would watch Reagan for a few hours tonight while they do some shopping. Well "YES" of course! So I thought, hey why don't I take this afternoon off so I can pick her up early.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend but most importantly reflects on the true meaning of this holy weekend. I am thankful that we will have all but a few of our family members with us this Sunday as we celebrate.

Well we are off to run a few errands before we pick up "our little girl".

HAPPY EASTER

The Flying Adventures Continue......

Finally arrived in Milwaukee Wednesday night around 9:30, got to the hotel and checking in by about 10:15. I was exhausted spending most of the day either in the airport or on a plane.

My class on Thursday was great. I am really glad I went again. Some repeat of the last time but alot of new information as well. Thursday night we were taken to dinner and it was really yummy. Of course by the third or fourth glass of wine what wouldn't be yummy.

Friday I awoke to rain and some snow showers but by lunch it had cleared. Class went by really fast and we got done by two instead of four. Cool, plenty of time to go back to hotel, get changed and off to the airport for my 6 pm flight. I'm on my way home and really looking forward to it.

I get to the airport around 3 with my book and settle back for a nice read until 6. This is going way to smooth. Well around 5:30 they announce that due to heavy winds in Detroit we will not be leaving until 6:40 but that all connecting flights will be fine. Okay no problem just alittle longer wait so keep reading. Then about 6:15 they annouce that they are pushing the flight to 7:40, the winds are really bad. Connecting flights will probably be missed so we should decide if we want to chance it. Just a FYI, Detroit is having ball tournaments and there won't be a hotel anywhere in case you need to spend the night. Great, just great!

So I call and find out that I the best I can do is get a flight out the next morning at 7 am and get to Roanoke by around noon. So after come crying (of course) on the phone with Chuck. Hey, what can I say, you guys know I am not the world traveler especially by myself. So I call the Pister Hotel downtown where I had stayed and they re-opened my reservation for another night. Great!

Now I proceed down to get my luggage back. Well it's already on the plane and of course it would be entirely too much trouble to get it off. Just leave it on the plane and it will be there tomorrow when you get home says the lady at the counter. Easy for you to say, you won't be staying in a hotel with nothing but what you have on.

I finally got back to the hotel around 9 and was able to get a toothbrush, tooth paste and a comb (I didn't even have a hair brush) from the hotel. I put water on my contacts (which worked - thank you God). Good news is I had a really sweet room at the hotel that night. It was a suite with everything of course all I could do is go to bed since I had to get up at 4:15 to catch my shuttle at 5:00 for the airport.

Well, got to the airport and when I checked in with my confirmation, it said my flight had already left. Talk about ready to explode. Somehow it was showing the 6 am flight vs my 7 am.

Finally got to Detroit, called Chuck for a nano second (my cell was going dead). Yes, my charger was also in my suitcase.

But as you can see, I FINALLY made it home and as usual have my wonderful flying memories to remember this trip.

So for a day and a half class I think I spent about 2 and half days in the airport.

Until next time,

Oh How I Love to Fly

As I posted earlier, my flying experiences are few and far in between but when I do fly it's always an adventure.

So my flight from Roanoke was to leave at 12:30 and I arrive at the airport around 10:45 and get my bags checked in, etc. and then I say goodbye to Chuck and settle down to read my book.

An hour later, they announce that the pilot cannot land due to the fog so he is headed to Charleston, WV, will refuel and then decide whether he's coming back to try and land. Great I say.... Well I go down to the main checkout to get another flight which takes about one and half hours to book the flight, uncheck luggage with one airline, recheck luggage with another airline, etc. So at 1:30 I call Chuck and ask if he will come and get me. My flight doesn't leave until 5:45 now and I fly to Charlotte first and then to Milwaukee. I hope to get to Milwaukee around 9 pm tonight.

Chuck picked me up, took me for some lunch and then we came home for alittle while until he gets to take me back. I need to be back there around 4 or so since we board at at 5:15. What a fun day...........

More on the adventure when I return (that is if I get to go).
