Chuck and I, along with Corey, Bobbie and Reagan headed out for KY for the 4th of July. We didn't get out of Botetourt until about 6:45 pm so we arrived in KY around 1:45 am. We were all exhausted from the night drive. I have decided now that I have done both (day and night) that I prefer the day time traveling. You get to see where you are going and the time goes faster than in the dark when you can't see anything.
We had a wonderful busy time. We went to the Jim Beam distillery and to Maker's Mark. Both were really cool. We also learned that Jim Beam is actually stronger than Chuck's thought. Of course that resulted from learning that he had not been drinking straight Jim Beam for the past several years but from a bottle of Jim Beam watered down with tea (HA) We owe that one to Nick!!
We enjoyed a cookout at Shay's dad's house and watched the fireworks from there. They were absolutely GREAT! Corey, Bobbie and Reagan passed on the fireworks since Reagan had not slept the night before and was really tired. Of course after getting back to the apartment she decided she was still not tired. Needless to say the last night, Corey and Bobbie bought a travel bed for her which worked great and they all enjoyed a good night's rest.
Saturday we went to Mike Linings for dinner and the food was so yummy and lots of it. We celebrated Chuck's birthday and had a really nice time. The waitress was alittle embarrassed when she walked in on Chuck opening up a pair of thongs. Of course Bobbie looked cute with them on her head as well (HA). You can tell we were having a good time!!
When we got back to the apartment, we gave Chuck his presents and then we stayed up until around 2am playing the Wii. By the time we went to bed, Nick was sweating, I had pulled a muscle in my butt and Chuck's back was hurting. It was fun and alot of laughs though.
Sunday we had lunch and then had to head back and YES we all know I cried when leaving. I just can't help it. I told myself all morning that I was not going to do it and what happened, I hugged Nick and the tears starting flowing. I get this from my Mom cause she used to cry alot when we I would leave or if I called to say I wouldn't be down that weekend. Oh well it's my prerogative as a Mother to cry if I want!!
Overall the weekend was fabulous and I'm looking forward to going back again in October for the wedding.
Chuck had to leave on Monday for Wytheville for a class he's teaching all this week. Then when he gets back he has another class on Saturday so he has a full week/weekend.
Bobbie is coming over this week so we can work on the bridal shower invitations, etc. and then I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday afternoon so I'm sure the week will pass pretty quickly.
Well that's it for this time,
Gayenelle
